My Husband’s Mistress Demanded I Pay Their $1,200 Steakhouse Tab—Then Security Walked In

Nikki leaped out of my chair so fast she knocked her half-empty mimosa glass straight into Travis’s lap.

“Keep my car out of your old, bitter mouth, grandma!” Nikki screamed, leaning over the shrimp platter and jabbing her finger toward me. “I’m twenty-four, my waist is twenty-six inches, and Travis already promised me that by Monday morning I’ll be sleeping in your master bedroom while you pack your granny panties into U-Haul boxes!”

“The only box you’re going to be sleeping in on Monday is a refrigerator box behind the dumpster, sweetheart!” I fired back without missing a beat. “Because Travis’s clothes are already sitting on the front curb in lawn-and-leaf trash bags, and the locksmith finished changing all four deadbolts on my house twenty minutes ago!”

Travis’s jaw dropped open. “You changed the locks on the house?! Sabrina, you can’t lock me out of my own home!”

“Watch me, baby boy!” I said, flashing the brass receipt from the locksmith. “Under state law, since you signed that notarized post-nuptial agreement after the first time I caught you texting girls from the gym, waving all marital residency claims in exchange for me paying off your twelve-thousand-dollar gambling debt, you’re nothing but a month-to-month boarder whose lease expired at noon today!”

Crystal sneered, refusing to believe the gravy train was derailing, and waved a greasy lobster claw at our shell-shocked waiter.

“Excuse me, waiter! Bring us four more doubles of Patron Silver and put them on Sabrina’s member tab right now!” Crystal shouted arrogantly.

“Yeah, and bring two bottles of Moët Rosé and four prime rib dinners wrapped up to go!” Loretta barked at the server, folding her arms triumphantly. “Since she wants to stand here and insult my birthday gift in front of the whole neighborhood, she can pay for the entire family’s Sunday dinner too!”

Nikki clapped her hands together three inches from my nose, smirking like she’d just won the lottery.

“Girl, nobody cares about your little dramatic speeches!” Nikki taunted. “Loretta already told you this family is done with you! So just sign the twelve-hundred-dollar check, tip the man twenty percent, and get your washed-up self out of our party!”

“Oh, this family isn’t done with me—this family is done with MY wallet, you cheap parasites!” I grinned.

I reached inside my tailored blazer pocket and pulled out two bright pink carbon-copy slips along with a yellow laminated HOA enforcement sheet. I slapped all three right down on top of Loretta’s butter plate.

“What the hell is this supposed to be?” Travis stammered, his voice shaking.

“The yellow sheet is an official HOA Trespassing and Ban Notice revoking all six stolen guest passes effective immediately,” I announced loud enough for the entire patio to hear. “And those two pink slips are impound receipts from County Towing for a 2016 silver Nissan Altima with a dented bumper and a 2018 black pickup truck that were parked illegally in the Homeowner Board Reserved spots outside!”

“You had my Altima towed?!” Nikki shrieked at a pitch that could shatter crystal. “Bitch, all my designer shoes and my flat iron are in the trunk of that car!”

“Then you better start sprinting in those crooked plastic heels, baby girl, because the second flatbed was strapping down your front tires when I walked through the lobby!” I laughed. “It costs three hundred and eighty dollars cash to get it out of the county lot after five o’clock—and they don’t take counterfeit Gucci bags as collateral!”

“And what about this dinner?!” Loretta roared, her face turning the color of raw liver. “You’re still the member of record at this clubhouse, Sabrina! They have to bill your house account!”

“Actually, they don’t,” I smiled, stepping aside as Arthur, the restaurant general manager, marched onto the patio flanked by two burly uniformed clubhouse security officers and a county sheriff’s deputy who worked weekend gate detail.

“Mrs. Vance called my office forty-five minutes ago when she saw unauthorized charges hitting her alert app,” Arthur said crisply, holding out the black leather bill folder toward Travis. “She removed her credit card from the dining authorization list and informed us that Mr. Travis Vance insisted on hosting and paying for this twelve-hundred-and-eighty-four-dollar birthday banquet himself.”

Travis looked at the leather folder like it was a live rattlesnake. He swallowed hard, nearly choking on a piece of shrimp cocktail.

“Sabrina, wait a second—let’s step outside and talk about this like adults,” Travis whispered frantically, lunging forward to grab my wrist. “You know my checking account is overdrawn by ninety dollars until Friday’s payday!”

“Sounds like a wonderful conversation between you, Miss ‘G-U-C-G-I,’ and the deputy standing behind you!” I smiled, yanking my arm away. “Give me back my stolen gold hoops too, Nikki, before I have the deputy add felony theft to your dinner tab!”

“Wait—what did he just say?!” Loretta exploded, spinning around on Travis and Nikki so fast her clip-on hairpiece slid sideways across her scalp. “Overdrawn?! And you stole four hundred and sixty-five dollars of my electric-bill money to buy me a thirty-five-dollar bootleg purse from a parking lot?!”

“Give me back my son’s four hundred and sixty-five dollars, you crooked-wig little heifer!” Loretta roared, grabbing the strap of the fake ‘G-U-C-G-I’ bag and whacking Nikki right across the shoulder with it.

“Get your crazy old mama off me, Travis!” Nikki shrieked, stumbling backward into the stainless-steel dessert cart as the plastic gold letters popped off the bag and rained onto the patio carpet. “He told me he owned the five-bedroom house AND the country club membership! How the hell was I supposed to know he’s broker than I am?! Look at him—he’s forty-two years old with negative ninety dollars to his name!”

“Shut up, Nikki! You’re the one who told me to spend my mama’s electric money at the VIP nail lounge and the liquor store yesterday!” Travis screamed back at her, his voice cracking like a teenager’s as the entire restaurant burst into laughter.

“You spent my light-bill money on her toes?!” Loretta howled, her jowls shaking with volcanic rage. “Wait until the power gets cut off on Tuesday, Travis! Don’t you dare bring your broke behind to my apartment looking for a couch to sleep on!”

“I wouldn’t sleep on your roach-infested sofa if you paid me, old lady!” Nikki spat back, yanking my gold hoop earrings out of her ears and throwing them onto the tablecloth before digging into her cleavage and pulling out a crumpled wad of twenties. “And I’m keeping this cash to get my car out of the tow lot! Find your own ride home, losers!”

“That’s my electric money, you gutter rat!” Loretta screeched, lunging for the cash as the two security guards stepped between them.

Meanwhile, Crystal was trying to inch her way sideways toward the pool gate with three foil-wrapped prime rib takeout boxes shoved inside her oversized beach tote.

“Oh, Deputy Miller!” I called out cheerfully, pointing right at Crystal’s bulging bag. “The lady in the leopard cover-up has about a hundred and eighty dollars’ worth of unpaid steakhouse prime rib and two silverware sets stuffed in her beach bag!”
